The Best Viewpoints in Phuket — and How to Combine Them in One Loop
Published · Angel Phuket Tours
Phuket's best viewpoints, in the order you should actually drive them — by a local guide who does this loop every week.

The classic west-coast loop
Phuket's three signature viewpoints — Karon, Windmill and Promthep — all sit on the same coastal road south of Karon Beach. Done in that order, late afternoon into sunset, you'll have one of the most rewarding two-hour drives in southern Thailand.
Karon Viewpoint (Three Beaches)
Officially Kata-Karon Viewpoint; the view takes in Kata Noi, Kata and Karon beaches in one sweep. Best in late morning to mid-afternoon when the sun is behind you. Small parking area — easier on a private tour than self-drive.
Windmill Viewpoint
A short stop a few minutes further south. The single wind turbine gives the spot its name; the real view is back north across Yanui Beach.
Promthep Cape
The sunset stop. Arrive 45 minutes before sunset for parking and a good position. Walk down the headland past the lighthouse to the bell-strewn cairn at the tip.
Big Buddha — the inland alternative
If sunset is clouded over, head inland to Big Buddha on Nakkerd Hill — the 360° view over Chalong Bay works in almost any light.
