Wat Chalong
The most important Buddhist temple in Phuket — gold-leaf chedi, ornate viharn and the relic of Luang Pho Chaem, the temple's revered abbot.
Wat Chalong (officially Wat Chaiyathararam) is the largest of Phuket's 29 Buddhist temples. The grand chedi on the western side contains a relic of the Buddha and offers a quiet upper-floor view over the compound.
The temple is associated with Luang Pho Chaem, the 19th-century abbot credited with helping end the 1876 tin-miners' rebellion. His gilded statue inside the viharn still draws Thai pilgrims.
